After painting for 20 years, Lynn found her art in an online forum. She’s since been doing scratchboard art for about ten years.

“It’s tedious work, some people might mind it but I don’t,” she said.  “I like the detail I can get and it’s extremely challenging to get the effect you want. It’s pretty unforgiving.” 

Focusing on nature and animals, each piece takes her several weeks to complete.

A tool-based art, Kibbe carry around a tackle box full of instruments to scratch with and says she “sees things around places and thinks ‘how do I use that’.”

Her favorite tool is the scalpel knife, which is like an X-acto knife, but finer.  

A member of the International Scratchboard Society, Lynn said, “I fell in love with the great contrast and the details I could achieve with scratchboard…I’ve seen about 85 percent of Pennsylvania wildlife on this property (at her home). I get a lot of inspiration here.”

  Bonnie Troemel began Mountain View Sheep Farm in 2018, but her love for sheep started far before that. She began breeding and raising Shetland sheep back in 2010.   As a child, the Pennsylvania woods were Aubrey Fornwalt’s playground and the stream was her pool. After a life change in 2016 led her back to her childhood home in Lycoming County, Fornwalt took a risk and bought some black soldier flies for a composting business, taking inspiration from the woods and insects she loved as a child. Two years later, it grew into what would become Full Circle Bioconversion, based in the city of Williamsport in the Pine Creek Valley and PA Grand Canyon landscape and I-80 Frontier landscape of the Pennsylvania Wilds region.
