Lost in the Wilds Brewing: A hoppin’ place just steps from the Rail 66 Country Trail

Jared and Mallory Griebel began home brewing for weddings and competitions, but something else was also brewing… their dream to start their own company. With help from their families and a lot of hard work and dedication, Lost in the Wilds Brewing went from being a dream to a reality. Jared and Mallory grew up together, and they decided to put down roots in the I-80 Frontier, Cook Forest and the Ancients Landscapes of the PA Wilds region for both their home and business.

They soon found the perfect location: located in Shippenville, PA on land right next to the Rail 66 Country Trail four-season walking and biking route. The pair built the building from scratch, aiming to create the perfect indoor-outdoor feel that puts you right into the beauty of the PA Wilds. The brewery has a garage door that can be opened in nice weather, leading out to a patio that is just steps away from the convenient rail trail.

Jared and Mallory wanted a place folks could go after a hike or bike to enjoy a cold brew, as they had also enjoyed doing. There’s nothing like a good drink after an outdoor adventure, and many trail users stop by the brewery to treat themselves. Jared and Mallory wanted to create craft beers that all adventurists could enjoy.

Lost in the Wilds Brewing currently offers 12 of their craft beers as on-tap options for enthusiasts. They also offer craft cocktails and even some non-alcoholic options. To keep things fresh and exciting, they have a rotating tap list of beers. Seasonal flavors are incorporated into the menu – fruit-forward beers are popular in summer, and spiced varieties make an appearance in fall and winter.

The brewery also offers a selection of to-go options. Customers can stop by to pick up 4-packs, 25.4oz growler cans, and 64 oz glass growlers. You can bring your own growler or purchase one on-site. Glass growlers are an environmentally-friendly and budget-conscious way of carrying your new favorite beer home.

Hungry after your hike, or just want something to accompany your beer? Although not a restaurant, Lost in the Wilds Brewing hosts food trucks nearly every weekend from April through November. With local food truck options, everyone is sure to find something perfect for their palate. Guests can also bring their own food and snacks to enjoy on site.

What goes hand in hand with food and ice-cold beer? Live music! Various musical acts come to play during the weekends at the brewery, creating long-lasting memories in the PA Wilds. Feel free to bring a lawn chair, blanket, or yard games and enjoy the sights, sounds, smells, and tastes brewing up at Lost in the Wilds Brewing.

Lost in the Wilds Brewing hosts a variety of events on-site, as well as attending local events and pouring their fresh craft beers for attendees to enjoy. They’ve exhibited at places like the Chainsaw Carvers Rendezvous, Forest County Bigfoot Festival, Pine Creek Corn Maze, and many others. The brewery has also been hosting local events at their own location. Notably, you can enjoy Pedals & Pints, Tri-County Animal Rescue International Homeless Animals Day, and various local fundraisers right at the brewery at various times throughout the year.
