Axemann Brewery: Pouring tradition into every pint

What does a trout stream have in common with a railroad, jigsaw puzzle contests, and a metal factory? It is the Axemann Brewery in Bellefonte, PA, located in the I-80 Frontier Landscape of the PA Wilds.

Axemann Brewery, named in honor of the Mann Axe dynasty, was established in 2019 at the former Cerro Metal Factory in Titan Energy Park. When revitalizing the space, maintaining the history and character of the facility was a priority. Existing metal works, lights, windows, and other features were repurposed and a cool industrial atmosphere was achieved. The history can also be seen as soon as you approach the entrance where vintage Mann axes are repurposed as the opening door handles. 

Excellence is the top priority at Axeman Brewery. Their mission is to brew, serve and distribute quality beers based on traditional brewing methods for craft beer lovers. The 30-gallon production operation specializes in European and American east and west coast styles. Their flagship beer is Blue Stripe, a Kolsch known for “everyday excellence.”  You will find on tap lager, pilsner, stout, pale ale, black raspberry wheat ale, and several IPAs. Local ciders, wines and spirits are also available, along with food from two onsite kitchens.

This unique destination offers large TVs, a game area, as well as an open-air seating area overlooking the Logan Branch, a feeder to Spring Creek famous for catch-and-release trout fishing. While enjoying your beverage outdoors, you can observe the active Nittany and Bald Eagle Railroad pass by. You will also want to check out their calendar of events; corn hole, trivia, jigsaw puzzle contests, and professional sports game viewing are just a few of the options. Axemann Brewery even offers a brunch from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. every Sunday.

It is not surprising that Axemann Brewery was recognized with Centre County Favorites awards by the Centre Daily Times in 2024. They won gold medals in two categories: Best Brewery and Best Happy Hour. They also won the silver medal for Best Sports Bar.
